What Changes are Anticipated for the 2014 Toyota Corolla?

The 2014 Toyota Corolla will likely receive a major redesign, though reports suggest the changes will be more evolutionary that revolutionary. Expect Toyota to infuse the Corolla with fresh exterior and interior styling to help the car shed its somewhat stodgy image. Most of the car’s mechanicals, including its chassis should remain the same, which means the 2014 Corolla will likely be equivalently proportioned and with comparable interior room, though it may end up several hundred pounds lighter via weight saving measures instituted with higher fuel economy in mind.

The 2014 Toyota Corolla will probably continue to come powered by an updated version of the current generation’s 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that we expect would benefit from the latest technology, including direct fuel injection, gaining a few additional horsepower (over the outgoing model’s 132-horsepower rating) in the process. Reports suggest there’s a new manual and automatic transmission in the works – and long overdue – to replace the current model’s five-speed manual and archaic four-speed automatic gearboxes. We anticipate six-speeds either way, with gearing designed to boost the Corolla’s fuel economy.

Also expect the 2014 Toyota Corolla to offer a wider range of features to help keep up with the competition (see below).
